Outdoor kitchens have traditionally been made of concrete blocks wood or steel. These materials are difficult to use to achieve exact dimensions, and are heavy. Wood rots, warps and burns and also requires the use of an insulated non combustible liner. More people are using metal stud today and Outdoor Kitchens Canada (OKC) has refined this theory yet again. Outdoor Kitchens Canada (OKC) uses 11 gauge Aluminum and 304 stainless steel that is cut to exact dimensions, folded and pre-drilled. Our cabinets are manufactured completely by machines giving the ultimate in accuracy and strength.
2. How hard is this frame system to assemble?
All that is required is a wrench, set of Allan wrenches and a framing square. You can consider using a cordless drill to speed this process up.
3. What other tools do I need to assemble this frame system?
There is no cutting, drilling, clamping or measuring required.
4. How do I attach this system together?
Our cabinets once assembled simply bolt together to adjoining cabinet in any direction. Outdoor Kitchens Canada (OKC) will provide all necessary hardware to build your frame system. There are 45 and 90 degree units available for your frame system that fasten with the same simple nut and bolt hardware. All parts are interchangeable should you decide to change, add or relocate.
5. How do I attach them to the ground?
There are holes provided in the cabinets that you will screw or lag to your desired surface. Ensure that surface is level before fastening frame system. Outdoor Kitchens Canada (OKC) has optional levelling means for our frame system.
6. What is used to make up the walls of the frame system?
Outdoor Kitchens Canada (OKC) recommends the use of ½" cement board or similar. This can be directly attached to the frame system using carriage bolts which can be supplied . The cement board then readily accepts tile, stone, stone veneer and stucco. Outdoor Kitchens Canada (OKC) can also assist you in providing manufactured stone, natural stone or other man made products.
7. Are the frames weatherproof?
Yes, stainless steel can withstand any conditions including moisture and salt water. No primer or paint is required. We proudly stand behind this system with a lifetime warranty.
8. How high is the counter top?
It is 894 millimetres or 35 ¾ inches. The actual working height when finished will be 35 ¾ inches plus the thickness of desired counter top (granite or stone).
9. Can I add electrical outlets?
Yes, electrical outlets can be added. In three general locations, on the backsplash of the counter, against the back wall under the counter top for appliances and on any vertical face. Warning electrical wiring should only be installed by a licensed electrician. Obey all codes for outdoor electrical wiring. Follow all appliance manufacturer instructions and do not use extension cords as permanent wiring.
10. Can I add hot and cold water?
Yes, all sink and taps will accept standard plumbing fittings. Any of these units will accommodate an electric water heater. Warning, follow all local and national codes. All plumbing should be installed by a licensed plumber. Water heaters require dedicated electrical circuits and all manufacturer's instructions must be followed.
11. What grills are recommended?
We do not manufacture grills, there are many choices.-You would simply provide the model information and we build the opening to suit
12. What kind of drawers/doors can I use?
We provide all doors and drawers (check accessories) manufactured in the US to Meet our high standard of quality. 10 year warranty - Our frame system will accept any size and style, you would provide measurements 13.
